PadX : The Padel AI Analytics App

PadX is a first of its kind AI-informed sports analytics platforms, with smart integrations that transforms Padel match footage into pro-level performance analysis.

Unlike other consumer apps, PadX uses fixed on-court AI cameras to deliver true precision in shot tracking, movement mapping, and automated highlight generation in minutes, all in the palm of your hand. We acted ideated, wireframed and design the UX/UI for the app, as well as the complex backend integrations.

The Challenge: Bridging the sports data gap

Padel is a fast, tactical, and complex sport. Players know they are losing points but they may not know why. While many fitness or sports app developers focus on simple features, Padel requires complex spatial data. Existing solutions were too manual; we needed to automate the sports data visualisation process to remove all user friction. Existing solutions require lots of input and involvement from players, meaning most people wouldn’t know where to begin with analysing their games and progress.

Project Goals:

• Eliminate friction: Create a "zero-setup" experience for the player.
• Deliver meaning, not just data: Translate complex AI coordinates into visual stories (Heat Maps/Graphs).
• Social connectivity: Automate the creation of shareable highlights to drive community engagement.

The Solution: The "scan, play, review" ecosystem

As the bespoke app development partner, we developed a three-part ecosystem consisting of the mobile app, the court-side kiosk, and the AI Engine. 

Project Management

We collaborated closely with the client with research workshops, wireframing and a thorough discovery phase to understand the intricacies of the requirement. Our role is to develop the “dream product” so no stone is left unturned during this part of the process. 

Wireframes and prototyping allows us to adapt the design in real time, crafting a bold look and feel for the product, ensuring the functionality is exactly as intended. 

Our additional support ranges from hardware installations, facilitating in-person testing, website development and creation of sales documentation. As a partner, we acted as an extension of our clients team, on hand to assist client stakeholders throughout the project.   

Design Strategy

The UI was designed with a dark aesthetic to match the premium feel of elite Padel clubs. We prioritised visual data over text, using high-contrast neon accents to highlight "winning zones" on the court. • The kiosk interface: A high-speed, low-friction UI where players scan a QR code to check-in to a match.
• The match breakdown: A feed of match highlights, allowing users to jump directly to break points or long rallies.
• The PadX Player Score: We developed a proprietary algorithm that aggregates match data into a single, evolving skill rating, gamifying the path to improvement.

Technical Execution

The development focused on an intuitive, value-add user experience and a high-speed processing of video frames to identify the story of the point.

• Hardware sync: We built the backend to handle real-time integration between the club’s physical cameras and the user’s mobile session.
• AI heat mapping: Using the footage, we mapped player coordinates onto a virtual 20x10 grid, providing a top-down tactical view of positioning.
• Automated event detection: The AI identifies specific game states (serves, highlights, unforced errors) to trigger automatic video clipping without manual input.
• Shot classification: Detect shot types, errors, trajectories and missed opportunities.

Even during initial testing, it was clear that this app would be a game-changer, literally and metaphorically. Users immediately reported that they’d long been waiting for something like PadX in the app market, to track and optimise their Padel games.
